The police are investigating a report that on Tuesday a boat powered by an outboard engine ran over a canoe being paddled by an elderly man in the Cuyuni River.

The man received injuries and was taken to a hospital in Venezuela, where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.

No other information is available at this time, Police said.
