THE National Zoological Park in the Botanical Gardens, Georgetown, resumed hosting annual zoo camps for children, between the ages of six and 12 years, last Monday.
The camps, of one-week duration, continue from Monday through Friday between 08:30h to 15:00h daily.
The programme includes educational tours, presentations on wildlife, field trips, nature stories, films, arts and crafts, fishing and bird watching and games.
The dates for various age groups are primary (six to nine years) July 12 to 16 and July 26 to 30 and secondary (10 to 12 years) July 19 to 23 and August 2 to 6.
The fee per child is $3,500 and each of them must take their own lunch with them.
A spokesman for the zoo said parents are invited to the opening and closing sessions of each camp.
Mr. Donald Gunraj, educator at the Nature School in the Zoological Park, can be contacted for further information.
General Manager of the National Parks Commission, Ms. Youlanda Vasconcellos, who has responsibility for the Zoological Park, as well, said this year’s camps is the ninth since they were inaugurated in 2002 and all were very popular and successful.
