AFC elated at Baroness Amos UN appointment

THE Alliance For Change (AFC) has said it is elated at the news that Guyanese born, Baroness Valarie Amos, has been named the head of the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs, by the UN Secretary General.
A press release from the party said Baroness Amos has had a long and distinguished career of public and international service in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, and has made her country proud through her achievements.
Throughout her sojourns of her exemplary career, she has never forgotten her humble beginnings in Guyana, and has, at every opportunity sought to bring her skills and experience to bear to improving Guyana’s development especially, in the areas of democracy and the rule of law.

“We wish the Baroness success and God’s blessings as she goes to work to relieve the suffering of all the people of the world and we are confident that she will continue to place humanitarian relief, human rights and social justice in Guyana, at the centre of her global activism,” the AFC said.
