MUCH of the recent analyses of Guyana’s economic performance must be seen as the latest resort of the government’s critics, those who have appointed themselves as the official nay sayers committed to discovering and exposing things to criticise the words and actions of the government. Regarding the performance of the economy, it is too much for them to recognise sound stewardship of Guyana’s economy in the aftermath of the impact of the global financial/economic crisis.

They would have been quite uncomfortable with even the thought of such an analysis.

One can only imagine how much they must have hoped that the impact would have been different and like many other places, so they would have had more to moan and groan about and criticise.

So the performance of the economy was the next best thing and what better way than to focus on the past and bewail the future.

What better way of criticising than to try to create doubts about the accuracy of official pronouncements, throwing caution to the winds with their unsubstantiated claims.

The government plans, performs and achieves.

The nay sayers distort, object and criticise.

Government should recognise their ways, the company they keep and ignore them.
