Autopsies confirm Police murder/suicide victims shooting deaths

POST mortem examinations on their bodies have confirmed that Police ranks Ivelaw Murray and Kelvin Shepherd both succumbed to shock and haemorrhage due to gunshot injuries.
Government pathologist, Dr. Vivikanand Brijmohan, performed the autopsies at Skeldon Hospital Mortuary where the corpses were taken following the alleged murder/suicide on Sunday morning.

Assistant Superintendent Murray, who was in charge of Springlands Police Station, at Corentyne, Berbice, too, allegedly shot Shepherd in the head with a Guyana Police Force (GPF) service .38 revolver in the Barrack Room but the circumstances under which it happened are unclear.
Investigations into that unlawful killing led to the discovery of the dead Murray in his Hashim Street, Springlands home, about 03:25 h on Sunday.
He suffered a gunshot wound below the chin and the .38 firearm was recovered next to his body.
A senior Police officer told the Guyana Chronicle that Murray will not be given a military funeral like that to be accorded Shepherd, likely on Sunday.
Murray, a trained Court Prosecutor, is reported to have written a suicide note since June 27, telling its readers of his regret for taking such actions.
Shepherd, 22, had been on four days leave when he was telephoned by Murray and ordered to resume duty on Saturday, instead of Sunday.
Reports said, earlier Saturday evening, Murray was expected to visit the relatives of Police Constable Vickram Singh, who was shot and killed in line of his duty, at the Joint Services Scheme, Lamaha Springs, Georgetown, at their Number 48, Corentyne, home but never arrived there, as he was involved in an accident.
Singh is expected to be buried with full military honours, as well, in his home village today.
