Robber followed victim to commit $1M robbery

Court told…
A MAN made conversation with a woman in a bank, then followed her to a restaurant and robbed her, a Court heard yesterday.
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson was told of the episode yesterday when Quacy Fung-A-Fat, 30, of Lot 187 Hyde Park, Timehri, East Bank Demerara, faced a robbery charge.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on June 21, he was armed when he relieved Patricia Crassman of $860,000 cash and cosmetics valued $201,000, making a total loss, to her, of $1,061,000.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail after he gave the narrative.
He said the defendant approached the virtual complainant while she was inside the bank and talked to her and she, later, saw him outside of a restaurant where she was.
The Prosecutor said, as soon as Crassman left the eating house, Fung-A-Fat demanded that she hand over her bag and, when she refused, he placed an object to her side.
He made good his escape but was later indentified at a bus park, the court was told.
The magistrate upheld the Police objection to bail requested by attorney-at-law Mr. Patrice Henry and remanded the defendant to prison, before transferring the case to another Court for July 7.
