MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamootoo, at New Amsterdam Court, yesterday refused bail to Takoor Sookchand, who is charged, indictably, with carnal knowledge.
The 20-year-old accused, of Vryheid, West Canje, also in Berbice, is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with a minor who lives in close proximity to his home.
Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, said, during the month of  May, the student of Vryman’s Erven Secondary School in New Amsterdam, was at home alone when the defendant’s mother requested the 13-year-old to help her make fudge.
The Prosecutor said, in the process, the woman left the house, with her son and the teen inside and he invited the girl to view digital video discs (DVDs) during which time he committed the act.
Sookchand has been remanded to prison and the case will be called, again, on July 26.
