DJ Stress Festival …
THE Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has released a strong 16-man squad to represent the county at the upcoming DJ Stress 20/20 Festival at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, this Sunday. West Indies limited overs player Royston Crandon has been appointed captain of the team with Test player Narsingh Deonarine as his deputy.
Also included in the line-up are national opener Sewnarine Chattergoon, Crandon’s older brother and national all-rounder Esaun Crandon, Jonathan Foo and Richard Ramdeen.
While they don’t have any big names with the calibre of Christopher Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Lendl Simmons and Rayad Emrit – all guest players – the BCB has selected the strongest possible team to challenge for the top prize.
The full team reads: Royston Crandon, Narsingh Deonarine, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Richard Ramdeen, Jonathan Foo, Ranga Latchana, Delbert Hicks, Esaun Crandon, Krisendat Ramoo, Devon Clements, Davendra Bishoo, Homchand Pooran, Steven Latcha, Rajiv Ivan, Anthony Bramble and Michael Newland.
Treasurer of the BCB, Anil Beharry, has been appointed manager of the team and Adrian Amsterdam as the coach, while training session for the team has been organised for the rest of the week under its senior elite training programme at the Albion Cricket Club ground.
The Berbice Titans, who are being sponsored by Universal DVD Club, will be joining Gizmos and Gadgets’ Georgetown Pitbulls and Trinidad and Tobago’s Moosai Tigers in battling defending champions Hotel Tower New Line Cavaliers for the top prize.
Tickets for the event are on sale at strategic locations countrywide at a cost of $1 000. Children under 12 years of age will be admitted free.
