Mc Kay and Benjamin retain titles

REIGNING National Sports Commission (NSC) Independence three stage champion Warren Mc Kay (senior) along with Gary Benjamin (veteran) retained their 2009 Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) road championship titles yesterday morning.

Mc Kay’ Roraima Bikers Club teammate Jude Bentley occupied the second position with Enzo Matthews in the third spot while in the Junior division, 2007 champion Christopher Holder regained the title he lost to Berbice’s Neil Reece (2008) and Geron Williams in 2009.

Paul De Nobrega and Rastaf O’Selmo occupied the second and third place positions in the junior category.

Benjamin stole the veterans’ category from Linden Blackman and Ian ‘Dumb Boy’ Jackson in that order, while for the first time, there was a female category which was won by Linde’s Mazina Barrett ahead of Marcia Dick and Naomi Singh respectively.

The GCF graciously thank the championship sponsors G.T. Taxi Service and Trophy Stall of Bourda market  for their sterling contributions, along with the Guyana Police Force for their excellent assistance in controlling the traffic during this event.
