18th Annual Caribbean College of Surgeons Conference opens

(DSC_0228): President Bharat Jagdeo and Professor Vijay Narayansingh, President of the Caribbean College of Surgeons (CCOS), left, at the Umana Yana last night during the opening of the 8th Annual Caribbean College of Surgeons Conference.
President Jagdeo declared the conference open, during which he observed that while such conferences focus on standards, there must be equal emphasis on delivery of quality care.
According to him, this feat is a collaborative task that has to be addressed by Governments and groups like the CCOS.
The CCOS is a unique institution that concentrates all the surgical skills of the Caribbean and their network groupings into a single body.
This is their first visit to Guyana and the group is being supported/facilitated by the Management of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
The conference, which began yesterday, continues until Saturday and will see a total of 42 research papers being presented, six of which will be done by Guyanese from the local medical fraternity.
The conference is open to all members of the Guyanese medical fraternity and a number of medical professionals from the Caribbean have brought their experience to the table.
The same group was entertained last evening compliments of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
