ACDA (African Cultural Development Association) is planning several celebratory activities for Emancipation Day, August 1.
People’s National Congress Reform-One Guyana (PNCR-IG) Councillor on the Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Mrs. Marva Bowen, told the Tuesday statutory meeting that the celebrations will be on a large scale in the Region this year.
Also a member of ACDA, she informed that the programme will begin on July 31, with a candlelight parade from the Damon Cross at La Belle Alliance to Damon Square, Anna Regina, all on Essequibo Coast.
Bowen said a grand cultural show will be staged, along with a libation ceremony around the Damon Monument at midnight.
She added that a troupe from Georgetown will visit the Region for the occasion and a programme is also scheduled for Anna Regina Community Centre Ground.
