Re-shaping the image of Guyana is the goal behind Party TV, the latest television entertainment programme to be launched here.
This new programme is the brainchild of Kendesi Mohammed, who has come home after living 15 years in the United States.
According to Mohammed, the aim behind Party TV is to “give the world a taste of what happens in Guyana.”
Born in Buxton, Mohammed expressed his intention to highlight all Regions of Guyana; he said “the goal is to sell Guyana, to create a higher influx of tourists in search of activities outside of the eco-tourism sector.” As such he formulated the concept of showcasing events in Guyana on television and eventually the internet. Party TV can be viewed on Mondays at 23:00h on channel 67.
He is confident that the programme will be well received by the Guyanese.
“Once the people love the concept behind your business and the vision, they will support you to the fullest. I love Guyana. It is the only place where one can start something like Party TV one week and the next week they’re talking about it in the streets”, he said.
Mohammed highlighted one area of concern. “ Our only issue that has not been resolved is the speed, or lack thereof, of the Guyana internet system; people in the United States on ‘Facebook’ and ‘Twitter’ and ‘YouTube’ have been looking for the footage. Fortunately, it seems like systems are being put in place to address this concern.”
Even though the entertainment programme is in its sixth week on television, Party TV will be officially launched on June 21
