CO-OWNER of Hits and Jams Television (HJTV), which operates on channel 72, Kerwin Bollers, 31, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, charged with malicious damage to property.
The defendant, of Lot 49 Public Road, Kitty, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, last April 10, he unlawfully and maliciously caused $35,000 damage to a fence belonging to John Agar.
Bollers claimed the destruction was accidental and happened when he was raising his overhead water tank that fell.
He said he offered to fix a part of the fencing but the owner demanded that he repair the whole.
Consequently, Bollers said he bought a roll of the chain link fencing but the virtual complainant refused it, on the ground that the material was of inferior quality.
Bollers said the man he contracted for the job undertook to strengthen the material by doubling it but Agar did not accept the proposal.
Bollers was put on self-bail until June 14.
