Under this government women have made substantial progress

SINCE the current government took office, women have made substantial progress, closing the employment, occupational, and earnings gap significantly. Thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, many women are now just as competent and qualified in many categories of work as males.

Many women, most of whom are survivors of traditional male dominated households and abusive relationships, now have acquired skills necessary to enter or re-enter the working population.

Currently there are no statistics to indicate the precise gender gap that exists between men and women’s wages, but the fact remains that despite the extent to which women’s earnings may compare to men’s in our workforce, it is very clear that women are now working more than ever before.

As Guyanese we should all be proud of the Peoples Progressive Party and make every effort to support them on their drive to economic development and economic stability for all our people. The future generation depends on us.
