THE Demerara Oxygen Company Limited (DOCOL) made a presentation of cooking gas to the Guyana Red Cross Society to assist in its hinterland community based Water and Sanitation project for residents in Region One (Barima/Waini).
DOCOL presented twelve 9kg (20lbs) cylinders of TexGas complete with fittings (regulators, hoses, and clips) to the Guyana Red Cross, which is coordinating the hinterland programme with funding from the European Union and the French Red Cross Society.
Project Coordinator, Suparna Bera, said the objective of the programme was to improve health status among poor hinterland communities in Guyana especially in Regions One and Nine through increased sustainable access to safe water and better community water management.
She thanked DOCOL for their timely contribution.
DOCOL Marketing Manager, Gopienauth Sowdagar, said that his company was always willing to support community based initiatives.
According to Sowdagar, DOCOL recently donated close to 100 directional signs to the Parfaite Harmonie Community in West Demerara, and is always ready to render assistance to patients in need of oxygen at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
The official disclosed that customers of DOCOL could expect to see an improved 9kg (20 lb) cylinder on the market.
