– week long activities planned
The Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the European Commission, will be conducting a week of activities to promote awareness of child labour. This year’s activity will be held under the theme “Go for the goal—end child labour”, from June 6 to 12, to promote awareness and tackle child labour through sensitising the general public to the importance of scaling up the call at the global, national and local levels to stamp out this scourge from society.
The ILO Convention on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour came into force on November 19, 2000, with nearly 132 countries consenting to the convention.
