SCORES of people bade farewell to murdered hairdresser Bibi Rafeena Saymar, who was buried yesterday, after two funeral services at her mother’s Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo residence and her grandmother’s home at Success, East Coast Demerara.
The 24-year-old woman was interred at Beterverwagting Muslim Cemetery, also on the East Coast of Demerara, amidst a tear-filled and emotional atmosphere.
At Tuschen, where family members, relatives and others gathered to get a glimpse of the body, some expressed heartfelt condolences while others stood quietly by as they discussed the murder.
Mother of the deceased, Sunita Saymar was inconsolable as the body was exposed for viewing upstairs in her house.
The woman was fatally stabbed in her apartment early last Saturday morning and her reputed husband, Dennis Persaud and the alleged hired hit-man,Toney Greene, have been charged with the crime.
They appeared at Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, earlier this week, when they were remanded to prison until July 13.
The unlawful killing took place at Hague Jib, also on the West Coast of Demerara, where Saymar lived with Persaud.
