A Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) mobile patrol thwarted a robbery at the East Bank Demerara complex early yesterday morning. It happened about 12:45 h when three armed men gained access to the Diamond compound, overpowered and bound the three guards on duty at the time, relieving two of them of their firearms.
The robbers were still trying to cut through security locks when the security patrol arrived at the scene and the bandits fled with only the stolen guns.
The Police issued a statement late last night noting that, acting on information received,  it conducted an operation on the East Bank of Demerara during which the .32 revolver which was stolen earlier during the DDL robbery was recovered.

The Police said two other firearms that are suspected to be illegal were also recovered.

A man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
