The Annual General Meeting of the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) will be held this morning at the Carifesta Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue , commencing at 10:00 h.
With the life of the present executives set to come to an end at the meeting, the selection of a new executive would be high on the agenda of those attending the meeting, with incumbent president Alfred King expecting to retain his post.
Treasurer Dwayne Lovell is also set to retain his post, but the same cannot be said for Lawrence ‘Sparrow’ Griffith, Collin Aaron and Jan Obermuller who are the senior vice president, junior vice president and secretary respectively.
Griffith has already indicated his intention not to contest the post of senior vice president, while both Aaron and Obermuller are overseas, which means that former FIFA referee Roy Mc Arthur and present FIFA referee Mark Young are tipped to fill the positions of senior and junior vice presidents respectively. Present assistant secretary/treasurer Dion Inniss may be elevated to the position of secretary, while other referees in the caliber of Stanley Lancaster, Nicola Joseph, Miguel Vieira, Trevor Beckles, Kayode Lambert and Carlos Bernard are expected to fill key positions on the executive body of the GFRC, as there are assistant secretary/treasurer and three committee members positions to be filled.
Other items on the agenda will be the reading of the audited financial statement, as well as the secretary’s and president’s report prior to the election of office bearers.
