NINETEEN-year-old Ramal Madray, of Lot 3 Benneth Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, was yesterday refused bail and remanded to prison, by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, after he denied having in his possession more than 251 pounds of compressed marijuana in his motor car, PFF 9723, for the purpose of trafficking .
Police said the defendant, who is the driver and owner of the vehicle, was motoring along Plantation Profit, West Coast Berbice, in the vicinity of the Abary bridge when he was intercepted by cops.
Five multi coloured bags containing forty-five parcels of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 113Kg, 636 grammes was unearthed from within the vehicle.
The defendant, whose relative was a key suspect in the Oldendolf fuel theft recently, is expected to make an appearance at the Fort Wellington Magistrate Court, where the case is transferred and is fixed for hearing on June 10. (Jeune Bailey Vankeric)
