-and should be treated as such
SO, A popular daily columnist is once again in subtle defense of a popular television channel owner.
From his musings, he is questioning the haste with which this talk-show host was handcuffed by the police for a court appearance.
Now, this columnist should know that an arraigned felon, irrespective of status, is not entitled to any special privilege.
The manner of dealing with this personality is in keeping with standard operating procedures. And so was CN Sharma.
It is sad, even contradictory, that the correct measures have been taken in this particular instance, and here is someone making such a statement.
So long has society been crying out for action against alleged sex offenders. And now, because it concerns such a high-profile personality, there appears to be a hint of preferential treatment. Why should he not have been handcuffed?
Had it been a working-class citizen, would this columnist have uttered the same sentiment? I am certain that he must have seen images, both in the print and electronic media, of the plebes being cuffed and taken to court. Did he ever protest such action in his column?
A felon’s a felon, regardless of status
