Essequibo Coast rice farmers reaping, sowing simultaneously

Due to weather conditions…
FARMERS on the Essequibo Coast are making full use of the current weather conditions to cultivate and reap rice.
Reports said most of the 32,500 acres planned cultivation for the Autumn crop have already been sown and are in different stages of growth.
But, while some planters are still preparing their fields to sow, others in D7 and D8 areas, aback of Better Success, are preparing to harvest after sowing late as they, previously, lacked water for irrigation.
At Better Success, some reapers have returned to using grass knives because consistent rainfall made their fields inaccessible to combines normally used for the purpose.
