ERC engages Youth Constituency as the Commission concludes its Annual Constituency Meetings

– Strategic Assessment continues
MEMBERS of the Youth Constituency yesterday interacted with the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) as it concluded its Annual Constituency Meetings. However, the ERC’s Strategic Assessment continues. The meeting, in which 11 representatives participated, was addressed by ERC
Chairman Bishop Juan Edghill.

During his remarks, the Chairman pointed out the aim of the meeting which was to inform the representatives on the work of the Commission, garner feedback on these activities and also for them to participate in the Strategic Assessment of the Commission’s work.

The ERC Chairman reported that the Commission was pleased at the high attendance of youths at its recently concluded Neighbourhood Conferences countrywide. He explained that the youths were very participatory and their views, recommendations and suggestions for a better Guyana were recorded and will form part of the Commission’s Annual Report which is currently being compiled.

So far, the Commission has held meetings with representatives of the Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Private Sector, Women, Labour and Youth Constituencies respectively, with a total of 58 organisations consulted.

The Commission, in a statement, said it is scheduled to meet with members of Civil Society today. Following this, the ERC will consult with stakeholders at the regional level during the continuation of the Strategic Assessment.
