IAN Jacobs, 20, of Tabatinga, Rupununi, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday and was granted $60,000 bail on an assault charge.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on May 17, 2009, he unlawfully assaulted Michael Williams, so as to cause him actual bodily harm.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, had no objection to the grant and said the virtual complainant was not seriously wounded and is out of danger.
The case has been transferred to Lethem Court, also in Rupununi, for June 1.
