… two Bounty staffers also recognised
DHANRAJ Singh of 63 Number Two Settlement, Blairmont, won the grand prize of a trip for two to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Twenty20 World Cup final in Barbados on Sunday along with tickets to the game, spending money and hotel accommodation. At a simple presentation ceremony held in the boardroom of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) the official distributor of Pepsi, the official soft drink of the ICC T20, Dhanraj, whose winning entry was selected in a draw on Monday, received his spoils.
Also receiving their prizes won during the hosting of the tournament here recently were Bimkubwa Hintzen and Collette Wong of Bounty Meat Centre (Regent Street location), for the best creative Pepsi display which incorporated the theme ‘Refresh your World’.
In an invited comment, Singh expressed his delight at being able to win a promotion of such nature and is looking forward to the finals which will be played this Sunday.
“I am really excited that I have been given this opportunity to go to the Twenty20 cricket in Barbados. I bought two cases of one-litre Pepsi, and submitted eight labels and I must say that I am very happy that my entry was chosen from among the hundreds and probably thousands of entries that were submitted,” Singh said.
Prior to handing over the prizes to the respective winners, Marketing Director of DDL Sharda Veeren-Chand said it was always a pleasure for her company to give back to the community in some form or the other.
“To spread the ICC T20 cricket spirit, Pepsi and DDL held a number of promotions throughout the cricket season, giving away prizes such as tickets to games that were hosted here and now this grand prize of a ticket for two to Barbados for the finals, hotel accommodation, tickets to the finals and some spending money.
The competition was also an opportunity for Pepsi and DDL to reward retailers and consumers for their loyalty to Pepsi over the years and to afford them the opportunity to participate in the regional sport of cricket, hence the two staff from Bounty’s presence here today.
She added, “Pepsi and DDL will continue to sponsor great events like the ICC World T20 cricket and to give persons the opportunity to be part of these and win great prizes. We thank the retailers and consumers for their overwhelming support and participation in these promotions.
We would like to wish the lucky winners a safe journey to Barbados where they will have a truly enjoyable and memorable experience at the ICC World Twenty 20 Final.
Pepsi and DDL will continue to sponsor great sporting events and activities that reflect the rich heritage of our country and region and loyal consumers will continue to be rewarded as we encourage you to always “Refresh your world with Pepsi!!!”
Asked to comment on her company’s success in the promotion, Hintzen said that even though she does not have much experience in this field, they were very optimistic of their chances and she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff who assisted to make it a success.
“As a company, we were very optimistic that we would win the promotion. When we got the news that we had won, all the staff were very ecstatic that day.
“Even though I had no prior experience in designing something like this, with help from the staff, we were able to pull it off. I would like to thank Pepsi & DDL, as well as the entire staff of Bounty Meat Centre, Regent Street branch, for making it possible for us to travel to Barbados for the Twenty20 Cricket Final,” Hintzen concluded.
