PSC develops strategic plan to assume key roles

NEW Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo has reported that the organisation recently developed a strategic plan to guide efforts aimed at enhancing Guyana’s economy.
In a statement to the media, he said the key areas addressed in the strategy
are its secretariat, the PSC as an organisation, the National Competitiveness Strategy Unit (NCSU) and communication.
The statement indicated that the PSC has increased its internal staffing capacity to effectively deliver on its mandate and the office operations have been enhanced with the purchase of additional equipment.
It also disclosed that there had been refurbishing of the physical facilities to provide a good working environment and the accounts are also now computerised.
The statement said the PSC is seeking to expand its membership both corporate and sectoral and support will be given to the latter members, in the areas of services, research and information.
It said on the agenda, too, is the streamlining of various sub- committees and provisions have been made for the PSC to continue being the key advocate and partner of the NCSU, as well as take the leadership role on important priority areas.
“There has been the creation of an extensive public relations plan which encompasses the rehabilitation of the website, creating of brochures, production of newsletters, seminars, workshops, corporate dinners, luncheons and visits to regional chambers etc.,” the statement said.
It said that enhanced collaboration with Government, to have international fairs both locally and overseas, will assist in the creation of trade relations between Guyana and other countries.
