Banks DIH endorses second Hugh Ross Classic

THE second annual Hugh Ross Classic bodybuilding and fitness championships has once again been endorsed by Banks DIH, by extension of their Guinness brand name as the latter handed over their donation yesterday in the boardroom of Banks DIH which is in the form of the trophies for the respective categories that will be contested on Sunday night at the National Cultural Centre.
In his remarks Hugh Ross extended his deepest gratitude to Banks DIH for continuing their support of the event, “I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to Banks for coming on board once again,” he said.
Ross continued that their contribution is highly valued and it will come in with even greater effect this year as the competition will be of an open nature, whereas anyone is allowed to compete.
As such Ross says that this competition which will be contested in five categories for the males and one category for the females is expected to be bigger than the first in terms of participation.
The male competitors will be vying for honours in the Bantamweight (143lb), Lightweight (153lb), Welterweight (165lb), Light-Middleweight (176lb) and the Heavyweight (over 177lb) categories.
The respective winners from those categories will then battle it out for the over-all title and grand prize of one Yamaha 100cc motorcycle. The female competitors on the other hand will compete for the title of Miss Body Fitness. The trophies, which will be awarded to the first to third place finishers in each category, are all Ross’s designs and he also disclosed that medals will be awarded to the fourth and fifth place finishers as well.
Carlton João, who is the Sales and Marketing Executive at Banks DIH expressed the pleasure he felt over launching the 2nd Hugh Ross Classic. He stated that his company’s commitment to the event is a result of the commitment and vision that Hugh Ross displays for the sport.
João said that the Guinness brand is the fitting umbrella to use for a competition of this nature as it is a powerful stout. He also noted that the slogan of Guinness, “Reach for Greatness,” is symbiotic with the goal of the athletes that will be competing.
He reiterated Ross’s emphasis on the fact that it will be an open competition which he finds to be phenomenal as everyone and not just the successful professionals are being allowed entry.
