Region Two livestock farmers get feed assistance

THE National Dairy Development Programme (NDDP), in collaboration with Anna Regina/Charity Cattle Farmers Association, the Animal Services Division of Ministry of Agriculture and the Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) continued to distribute livestock feed along Essequibo Coast during the March to April 20 period.
Making the report, Cattle Department Officer in the Region, Mr. Charles Gregory said NDDP initiated the disbursement last January 7.
He said the aim is to assist livestock rearers, primarily cattle farmers, with supplementary feed for their animals in the ongoing dry weather conditions and related reduction in availability of good quality forage, which usually makes up the bulk of the requirement.
Gregory said 22 bags of rice bran and 608 gallons of molasses were distributed to 285 farmers.
