Eccles businessman’s body awaiting a post mortem

Police said they are investigating the murder of city businessman, Junior Richards, 40, of Anaida Avenue, Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
He was found bludgeoned to death in his home on Wednesday morning.
Police said Richards was found with marks of violence to his head.
The body of the businessman, the owner of the Le Rich Guest House on Princes Street, Georgetown, is at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.
Richards body was found in his bedroom by employees who went in search of him after telephone calls to his house were not answered and he failed to show up at his business place.
An employee of Le Rich Garment Store, one of his businesses, who gave her name only as Tessa, told reporters she and a driver arrived at the dead man’s residence and called his name several times before deciding to enter the yard.
They observed that the back door was ajar and entered the house where they saw the entire bottom flat of the building had been ransacked.
They proceeded upstairs and discovered the corpse lying face down on a blood-soaked bed.
Tessa said they left the premises and reported the murder at Providence Police Station, also on East Bank Demerara, from where male and female ranks hurried and cordoned off the crime scene.
The employee said the entire building was ransacked, and Richardson’s personal gold jewellery is missing, including several large chains, rings and bracelets.
Richardson, the proprietor of Le Rich Hotel, Taxi Service and Garment Store, all in Georgetown, on Princes Street between George and Smyth Streets, was at home alone. His wife was in Barbados.
Scores of his relatives, employees and friends, after hearing of the killing, gathered at the house and speculated that Richardson was killed by someone whom he knew, as there were no signs of forced entry.
It is believed that he was bludgeoned to death with a brick which was left in the upper flat of the two-storey building.
Neighbours reported that they saw a motor car parked outside Richardson’s house with its hazard lights on, for about half an hour, before 22:00 h Tuesday night, but thought nothing of it until they heard of the murder yesterday morning.
Police later combed the crime scene with a tracker dog which bolted out of the yard and ran along the street before circling a cul-de-sac and returning to the scene.
The motive for the murder is yet to be determined.
