Bakewell renews sponsorship with RHTY&SC teams

BREAD giant Bakewell renewed its sponsorship with Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Under-17 and second-division teams by injecting some $200 000 more. On Wednesday at the business firm’s main branch at Triumph, East Coast Demerara, General Manager of the company Rajin Ganga handed over the cheque and stated that his entity was very proud to once again link up with the RHTY&SC.
The funds will go towards the club’s expenditure on cricket gear, transportation and meals. This year marks the tenth year of association between the two bodies.
Ganga   continued by saying that the club has been successful over the years and that was one of the major reasons for them to come on board again.
Chief Executive Officer of the club, Hilbert Foster, in his remarks, expressed profound gratitude to Bakewell for their continued support for the past decade.
“Our success has been due to several factors and among them has been the support of official sponsors including Bakewell.
Bakewell came on board with us in 2000 and since then it has invested $2.5M into the club as an official sponsor of our second-division and Under-17 teams, and also supported our awards ceremony, youth magazine, cricket academy, charity programme among other programmes,” Foster recalled.
Foster mentioned that a number of players, both male and female have excelled at the Under-17 and second-division sides to attained greater heights, and Royston Crandon and Shemaine Campbell played international ODIs for the West Indies.
Middle-order batsman Assad Fudadin is in the West Indies ‘A’ team.
Meanwhile, the Under-17 team are the current champions of Berbice Cricket Board New Building Society. Berbice Under-19 leg-spinner Lloydel Lewis leads the side.
