GMR&SC boss predicts biggest Drag Race meet ever

PRESIDENT of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) Aaron Bethune is predicting that Sunday’s Drag Race meet at the South Dakota Circuit will be the biggest ever held in Guyana. A high-powered Dutch invasion is expected in Guyana for the event and according to Aaron, the cars are all capable of winning.
“I think what we will see on Sunday will be a very, very good day of drag racing and I can tell you that these cars coming will turn some heads and I know our locals are also well prepared so I just want to encourage people to come out and support the event. We have resurfaced the road and we are asking persons to use the highway entrance,” said Aaron.

But Aaron said Surinamese Hance Yzer, who will be driving a black Typhoon, has issued some serious warning to the locals.
“Well Hance said that he is more fired up this time around and is set to impress when he comes and he is also warning our boys and their evolutions to look out and beware. So I think this is one that people, especially people really like fast cars and so on, wouldn’t want to miss this one,” the GMR&SC president said.
Aaron pointed out that 0 – 1600 cc cars will be placed in Group A, while Group B will see cars that are peddling 1601 – 2000 cc and then the cars with muscles from 2001 to 2000 cc will be placed in Group C.
There will be a special grouping for (D1 and D2) for both four- and two-wheel drive cars which have above 2200cc and with Nitrous Oxide System (NOS).
Entrance fee to South Dakota is $1 000 and vehicles will be admitted free and it was also stated that since a high number of competitors will be on hand, the GMR&SC will be starting promptly at 10:00 h.
