Female shooters hold their own last weekend

THE Guyana NRA Small Bore section staged two major tournaments last weekend at Eve Leary and Timehri ranges which produced some outstanding performances especially among female members of the organisation. In the .22 Calibre Precision Shoot at 15  and 20 metres distances for junior and senior  shooters, the female shooters made a clean sweep with Petronella Halley capturing the top position followed by Candacie Frank in second spot and Edol Castello third.
Dr Johan DaSilva was once again in top form winning the senior category from Ian Rogers and Gordon Richards.
Second day action at the Timehri Pistol ranges produced another competitive day, in which the shooters braved the swelteringly heat to participate in what some considered the most challenging and fun shoot for the year so far.
There were three events for the day, in which only the seniors turned out.
In the first stage, which was an IPSC (International Practical Shooters Confederation)-styled stage, considered a moving shoot, because the contestants moved through a series of obstacles, (doors, barrels, walls and  windows) in order to shoot at the target.
Ryan McKinnon finished in first place followed by James Singh second and Joseph Chin occupying the third position.
Chin turned the tables on the other competitors in the second event. He placed first, Mohamed Qualander second, and Ryan McKinnon third. The third shoot, which was a fun stage, did not add to the overall standings. This was a falling plate speed shoot, where two shooters tried to hit the plates down before each other with limited rounds.
David Dharry came in 3rd, Mohamed Qualander 2nd, and Dale Hing 1st.
The overall standing for the day was: Dale Hing 3rd, Ryan McKinnon 2nd, and Joseph Chin taking the top spot.
