Up to press time last evening, Mr. Sharma was a patient at the Caribbean Heart Institute at the Georgetown Public Hospital, under police guard, and was said to be recovering.
He collapsed at the Brickdam Police station on Thursday and had to be rushed to the hospital.
He underwent surgery for a heart condition earlier this year.
Following the circulation of an affidavit by a girl who claimed that the businessman had raped her repeatedly for years, and a report to the police on Thursday, Sharma was asked to report to the police for questioning.
He showed up at Eve Leary with his lawyer Nigel Hughes, and was later taken to Brickdam Police Station, where he collapsed and was subsequently, taken to the hospital.
It is alleged that the girl, now 13, was repeatedly raped by the businessman, ever since she was seven. She also stated that he did the same to her siblings and they would receive $2,000 per week after sexual intercourse.
The girl added in the statement that she and her four sisters were all raped and sexually abused by the businessman over a period of time.
