Guyanese singer Aubrey Cummings succumbs to heart problems

GUYANA-born Aubrey Cummings is reported in the Barbados press as having died at the age of 62 on Wednesday from heart problems. He had lived in Barbados for many years and worked as a musician-singer at entertainment establishments. He was also an oil painter and exhibitions of his work were shown at galleries in the island.
In Guyana he played with the “Telstars” band and became popular with his hit tune: “So lucky in my life.”
Guyana’s Honorary Consul in the island, Norman Faria, added his tribute to others:”From what I knew of Aubrey over the years, he was a quiet, unassuming and sensitive person. He was a Guyanese-Barbadian who chose to make Barbados his home where he worked as a musician and, I understand, a painter. Like other Guyanese nationals here, he made his contribution in his case in the entertainment and artistic areas and he will be missed. On his last visit to the Consulate we gaffed about my two Guyana-made guitars and he gave me some tips.
My sincere condolences to the family.”
