THE Police have disclosed that two suspects, arrested following the last week Thursday night murder of well-known fish exporter, Rajendra Vishwajeet Motieelall Sonilall, 43, have been released on station bail but investigations are continuing.
The businessman, of Lot 73 Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara, was shot dead, under a shed near his business place, by a lone gunman.
The shooter fired several bullets into the victim’s body with a handgun about 19:30 h, while the latter was sitting alone.
Sonilall was conveyed to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
He had been exporting fish for the past 28 years, the salted variety mainly to Trinidad and relatives believe his execution was orchestrated by persons who owe him large sums but did not intend to pay.
Police confirmed that Sonilall was wounded in the head and abdomen and two spent shells were recovered at the scene.
