MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamootoo yesterday ordered a probation report on  attempted rape defendant Marlon Valz, who appeared at New Amsterdam Court in Berbice.
The 54-year-old defendant, who is alleged to have made an attempt to have forced sexual intercourse with a nine-year-old girl last February 1, was remanded to prison until April 19.
Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, successfully opposed bail for Valz, a dreadlocked resident of Angoy’s Avenue, on the grounds that the offence is prevalent and the defendant may tamper with the minor who resides in the same neighbourhood.
The prisoner on remand requested that the Court instruct the arresting Police ranks to return his personal possessions which they took away from him and the magistrate instructed the Prosecutor to intervene.
Valz said money, an identification card and cellular phone are in the Police custody.
