The post mortem conducted on the remains of six-year-old Devi Mangal at the New Amsterdam mortuary on Monday was inconclusive. However, this newspaper was told that body parts of the minor will be sent overseas for further examination.
Meanwhile , New Amsterdam Hospital CEO , Leslie Cadagon, said Lisa Edwards, aged one year, along with Devishkar Mangal, nine, were discharged from the institution. However, the condition of nine year old is constantly monitored by the medical staff.
Speaking to this newspaper briefly after the post mortem, the children’s mother, Lilamattie Ramdeen, called Chiney , said she feels relieved, as it was rumored that she had poisoned her children, an accusation which she denied vehemently .
However, while her two children are discharged from the hospital , she claimed that their father, from whom she is separated, has instructed medical staff not to give her the children. But Ramdeen claims that she has custody of the children and will be seeking the intervention of the Probation and Welfare Services.
Last Tuesday , Devi Mangal succumbed to a mysterious illness, while her two older siblings were hospitalized following signs of diarohhea and vomiting , which afflicted the minors at their family home at 10 Locaber Village, West Canje, Berbice .
