Countrywide activities to mark OSH Month

THE Ministry of Labour has planned several activities to mark the observance of Occupational Health and Safety Month which will be staged across the country.
Speaking at his weekly post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday, Dr Luncheon said Cabinet has noted the month-long activities planned in observance of the month which will culminate in World Occupational Safety and Health Day on April 28.

The activities will target industrial and manufacturing entities where terms and conditions are most needed.
Dr Luncheon stated that television programmes are ongoing in the regions to highlight and sensitise the general public about the importance of observing health protocols in the workplace.
In keeping with International Labour Organisation’s guidelines, World Day for Safety and Health promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally.
It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on the magnitude of the problem as well as creating a safety and health culture to reduce the incidence of work-related deaths and injury.
