Berbice Police donate to less fortunate families

THE Berbice Division, in the continuing effort to create a better image of the  Guyana Police Force (GPF), has extended charity to less fortunate families.
Foodstuff, clothing and other things were distributed to residents of Angoy’s Avenue, a depressed community on the eastern fringe of New Amsterdam, on Tuesday.
The exercise, initiated by former Commander, Assistant Commissioner George Vyphuis, is a part of the Police drive to be more
interactive with members of the community.
Sergeant Jairam Ramlakhan, of Central Police Station in New Amsterdam, said  the gesture is included in an enhancing project geared towards doing things differently.
Accompanied by Berbice Number One Sub-Division Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Superintendent Leroy Albert, Ramlakhan and members of the Community Policing Group (CPG) handed out largess valued at tens of thousands of dollars.
The gifts were well received by the scores of beneficiaries and the programme will continue, Ramlakhan said, expressing appreciation to the businesses which contributed greatly.
