PLEASE permit me to express the union’s disappointment and surprise at the most candidly displayed rude and unprofessional behaviour meted out to the union and labour department officials by the Pegasus Hotel new owner. Pegasus workers are holding out in the face of continuing anti – union assaults. The workers terms and conditions are under attack as well as violation of all aspects of the Trade Union Recognition ACT 1997 and ILO Convention 98 Right to organise and Collective Bargaining Convention 1949. This downright union busting and blatant anti – union prejudice and hostility add to the discrimination unionised hotel workers are experiencing. The Clerical and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU) strongly condemn the Pegasus Hotel for breaching the collective labour agreement. The CCWU has called upon the international trade union affiliates to pledged solidarity action with the workers of Pegasus Hotel.
