“Don’t hold me back” will be the refrain of chutney fans this weekend as Neeshan Parbo, a.k.a the Hit Man, makes yet another visit to Guyana’s shores. Ever since his megahit song “Don’t Hold Me Back”, released in 1997, the Hit Man has been churning out hit after hit. Songs such as “Rum meh brother seh”, “Firewater”, “More rum for me”, “Rumdrinkas” and others have become staples of most parties and celebrations countrywide. And this time he will be bringing out yet another hit, “Spanna”.
The Hit Man will be brought to you this time by Tameshwar “Golden Chyld” Narine, Destiny Entertainment and Chico Ramas Gas Station.
Featuring guest performances by Booran of “Every Day ah drinking meh rum” fame and Guyana Chutney Queen “Fiona”, a sizzling performance will be put on at Thirst Park tomorrow night during the Mori ‘J’ VON Comedy Jam.
On Easter Monday, the Hit Man will delight his fans at Hope Beach, E.C.D from 12 to 16:00 hrs, after which he will be at the Lusignan Ground. Entry is free into the ground from 5 to 7 after which a fee of $500 will be charged.
Boasting a long history in music, the Hit Man began singing film songs around 16 years as a hobby, until he tried his talent in chutney music. After his breakthrough hit, the artiste began touring the Caribbean and the rest of the world where chutney soca is enjoyed.
A track on his October 2003 album entitled “Another Hit by the Hit Man”, which was released around May of 2004, “More Rum for Me” better known as “Listen Mr. Chankar” won the Best Chutney Song of the Year award at the 2005 International Soca Award, and is called the “biggest cross over hit”.
The Hit Man has performed internationally in the United States, Canada, Guyana, Suriname, St. Lucia, Barbados and his native Trinidad & Tobago.
