Bachelor’s Adventure resident water supply wrongfully disconnected

PLEASE permit me space to highlight the idiocy that passes for service in this country. In 2009 during the “catch the waive” promotion by GWI, I went into GWI office at Bachelor’s Adventure on the November 30, 2009 to regularise my water connection. I took in all the necessary documents; transport, etc and paid for the connection. At this time I informed them that I, Padmini Deodharry, am the owner of the property located at Lot 6 Felicity E.C.D and not Eileen Deodharry and for them to change that in the system so that I would have the correct billing.
I subsequently paid meter charges for 2008/ 2009 on the January 4, 2010 for $17,800.00 and then on the March 24, 2010 for $2,224.00. On March 25,  2010 at 4:45 p.m., a red Toyota Wagon Registration Number HB 6756 with three male occupants and one female occupant came and said that they were contracted to do  disconnections by GWI; bear in mind none of these persons showed any identification/badges/authorisations of any kind. Upon enquiry the female identified herself as Pamela Vaughn and said that they were at my house to disconnect a meter in the name of Eileen Deodharry. I tried explaining that there is no connection in the name of Eileen Deodharry and that I thought this matter was sorted out in November 2009. At this point the driver of the vehicle started talking in a hostile manner and I could clearly smell alcohol in his breath because of our close proximity. I told him that he was under the influence and as such I would speak to the young lady. On hearing this he became incensed and said that “he was the contractor and that the water got to cut” The young lady was shown the first bill paid for on January 4, 2010, the second bill paid on March 25, 2010; the Driver was not at the premises at the said time. Well needless to say despite the young lady’s efforts, the drunken “CONTRACTED DISCONNECTOR” did his disconnection to show me “who is de boss”. Minister Irfaan Ally, please take note.
