THE Queenstown-based Demerara Cricket Club’s (DCC) pavilion will come alive on Friday, when the Guyana National Dominoes Federation (GNDF) hosts both the Caribbean Dominoes Social Organisation (CDSO) of London and the Caribbean Dominoes Association (CDA) of the United States of America in six test matches. According to a GNDF press release, a strong nine-member Guyana team, led by Godfrey Samuels of West Demerara and managed by Gwen McGowan with Wendell McPherson as her assistant, has been selected to represent this country in the six test matches.
Several trophies sponsored by Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) El Dorado brand of rum, Supligen and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS) among others, will be up for grabs in the various test matches.
Apart from competing in the tournament, the visiting teams will be taken on a tour of DDL, Neal and Massy and other sightseeing areas of Guyana, while Dr Frank Anthony, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, is expected to declare the games open at 18:00 h at DCC pavilion on Friday.
