Coinciding with Linden Town Week…

Linden Expo 2010 to focus on overseas markets
LINDEN Chamber of Industry, Development and Commerce (LCIDC) will stage its Expo 2010 Trade Fair from April 30 through May 2 at the Egbert Benjamin Exhibition and Conference Centre (EBECC) in Mackenzie.
The staging will coincide with Linden Town Week celebrations and Chamber Secretary,
Ms. Sheen Bristol said the focus will be on creating and highlighting  trade and investment opportunities in the town and Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Berbice).
It is also to begin linking businesses from around the Guianas, Brazil and the Caribbean, she said in a release.
According to Bristol, the showing would, as well, allow for some recognition that Linden could become an important hub for trade, especially as the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) container transshipment terminal begins operations and the Linden/Lethem corridor develops.
In light of that, she said the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and Go-Invest have offered their support for the event, with resource personnel and technical assistance.
Invitations have, therefore, been extended, by the LCIDC to the Chambers of Commerce of Suriname, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Brazilian Small Business Development Agency (SEBRAE) of Brazil.
The first Linden Expo, three years ago, was an instant success and LCIDC said it sparked the concept of the design and construction of the EBECC.
This year, it will be over three days, with various booths being erected two days before and Bristol said it is anticipated that the last three days of Linden Town Week would attract about 100,000 people, including visitors from the Caribbean and North America.
Meanwhile, LCIDC has sent invitations, too, to potential exhibitors, with an eye on markets in the States of Northern Brazil, mainly because of the close proximity of the Guianas to the rest of the Caribbean and North America.
