Region 3 cash crop farmers grateful for GAPA forum

CASH crop farmers of Region 3 would like to express our gratitude to the Guyana Agricultural Producers Association (GAPA) for organising and important forum to voice our concerns regarding the current dry weather conditions.
The forum which was held at Guyana Agriculture School (GSA) on Monday 08th 2010 last was very informative and educational.  The session not only brings us up
to date on the current El Nino conditions, but also outlined Government and GAPA’s support to farmers across Guyana.
Further, farmers want to express their thanks to Minister Robert Persaud for his interaction and discussion resulting in some interventions which have proven beneficial to farmers. The initiative to support GAPA with funding to purchase input such as sprinklers, drip hose and others is very much appreciated. This measure will bring some relief to us and will save the farmers their hard earn dollars.
Finally, GAPA has been doing a great job representing non-traditional farmers since its re-launch last year and is testimony to the recent huge turnout at the El Nino Forum. We the farmers will continue to work with the association to make it stronger and more vibrant and would also like to encourage other farmers to register with the association so that much needed benefits can be obtained.
