RAYMOND Hendricks, 46, succeeded in escaping punishment yesterday after he pleaded guilty to a simple larceny charge before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
He admitted stealing four drinks cases, valued $800, from Main Street Plaza Hotel in Georgetown, earlier in the day.
The defendant (no address given) told the Court a security guard apprehended him after he stole the cases but claimed he was hungry and intended to sell them to get something to eat.
Hendricks begged for mercy, stating that he is a first offender and is unable to work and provide for himself because of sickness.
The magistrate discharged Hendricks and warned him not to commit any other offence.
