Rawle Harding, 43, an overseas-based Guyanese, was shot and killed during a robbery at Cool Square Bar at Back Road, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, on Wednesday night. Police said at about 23:20 hours, Harding of Lamaha Springs, Georgetown , along with his cousin Clarence Roberts, 56, and a taxi-driver, were at the Cool Square when two men entered and purchased alcoholic beverages.
They then pulled out handguns and confronted Harding and his cousin, as one of them held on to a gold chain that Harding was wearing.. Harding resisted and was shot in his abdomen. The two armed men then took away Harding’s jewellery, a billfold containing cash and documents, and two cell phones, along with $15,000 in cash and jewellery from Roberts. They also grabbed an undisclosed sum of cash and a quantity of cell phone cards from the bar area and escaped.
Harding was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed while receiving medical treatment.
