Gunmen rob Essequibo family, shoot and injure one

FOUR armed bandits robbed a construction contractor of $130,000 and other booty at Mainstay, Essequibo Coast last Monday night.
The masked gunmen beat Seecharran known as ‘Turbo’ after awakening him and terrorised his family about 21:05 h.
He had heard sounds and, upon investigating, was confronted by two of the robbers in the upper flat of his two-storey house where they demanded money.

The victim told the Guyana Chronicle he was taken to the bottom flat where the quartet continued to hit him while pressing their demand.
Seecharran said his wife, Sookranie was also questioned by the intruders who struck her on the head and shot their son on his right shoulder.
Seecharran said the men gained entry to his fenced yard by removing staves from the rear fence and then forced open a door to the building.
His son, Vishtika Seecharran was admitted to Suddie Hospital where Sookranie received several stitches on her head.
Police at Anna Regina, also on Essequibo Coast, responded promptly to the report and investigations into it are continuing.
