BARTICA, in Region Seven (Cuynuni/Mazaruni) is experiencing constant heavy rainfall almost daily while Essequibo Coast and other parts of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) are affected by the near drought El Nino weather.
Pastor Compton Bacchus and his wife, Shellane told the Guyana Chronicle said, Tuesday morning, rain poured for some four hours.
Bartica is located at a point where the Cuyuni and Mazaruni rivers meet with Essequibo River and Bacchus said more large-scale farming should be done there because its unique climatic conditions can boost agriculture.
He said while agriculture production is affected in Region Two due to lack of irrigation water rainfall is wasted in Bartica and its environs where it could be used for farming.
Bacchus said Bartica is the gateway to the gold and diamond mining fields but Region Seven is a sleeping agriculture giant that needs to be awakened.
