THIEVES broke into a grocery shop at Devonshire Castle on Essequibo Coast and stole foodstuff worth $80,000.
The shopkeeper, Indrawattie Persaud said she and her husband were asleep when the burglary took place Saturday morning.
She told the Guyana Chronicle she awoke around 05:00 h and saw the door to business place open, most of the merchandise missing and a cutlass on the counter.
Police are investigating the report.
